Do you see a lot of smart cars?

Because TIL that they're exempt from your infamous smug check (engines under 819 cc) And how they did come up with a number so random?

In certain areas for sure. Less frequent in the sfv. But I do still see them.

Yes, tons in the SF Bay Area. There's one on my block that insists on parking in the mid-sized car slot outside my house.

But they're not less than 819cc. The current Smart, the only one you've had in North America, has a 1 litre engine. The original was first 600 then 700cc.

Oh man!

I thought we had gotten the 700cc, but I guess not.

No, you began with the 1.0 and five speed combination - the Mk2 Smart. I've only ever driven the 700cc turbo/six speed which I thought was absolutely fine despite all the hate you hear about the automated box.

TO has a ton as Car2Go car-sharing cars. 3 to 6 in every municipal lot.
